What is real? We are boarded with messages every day - from advertisements to political slogans to research articles. How can we tell what is real and how those messages shape our thoughts, our behaviors, and our very reality? Help your learner become a good consumer of information, learn how to spot when information is being used to manipulate them, and even how to use these tactics to become more persuasive speakers! It will be a fun and thought-provoking class, focusing on historical propaganda (rather than current events), and culminating in the creation of the class's own propaganda campaign. Just beware of your kids when you pick them up, because they may use these tactics on you!

Brain Rot for Tweens (or, Why Monkeys Take Cocaine Until They Die)
Join Dr. D, a psychologist, to learn about the brain's rewards system and how that translates into many of our screen-related behaviors. Alternative ways to stimulate the rewards system (other than screens and cocaine) will be discussed and maybe even tried. Learners will be able to make more informed decisions about their screen usage after this class. But monkey see, monkey do - parents may need some of this information too!
